Well, OK, I'm now trying to get the discussion into a more directed way.. ;) I need to make a decision in 2 weeks at last. So would "Unclassified Newsboard" also have been an interesting name in your opinion? Or "pixelboard" as a secondary idea?

Unclassified Newsboard is toooo long! Newsboad would be okay, but this extrem long Unclassified I wouldn't like!

Pixelboard is okay, ähm some Latin ideas - I know latin!  :cheesy:


Tabula would be "Brett" (German : Black Board = Schwarzes Brett)

Nigra would be Black (like a bad word for coloured people)

Nigra Tabula okay but Tabula would be funny!!

Nigra Board would be a bis rasistic!

So "Simple Machines Forum" and "Invision Power Board" are too long, too? You could say "unb" to this one...

EverBoard

This board can be used whenever, from wherever, by whoever, in whichever reasons, and used forever without any however ever.

Another one:
BorderlessBoard.
--blackboard, whiteboard, ... they all have borders. This one is borderless. can be used by people from any coountry (borderless) with any purposes (borderless too).

Subject: Phi?
I am currently reading "The Da Vinci Code", a thriller about a murder in the Louvre in Paris.

The main character, Landon, studies icons (religious, scientific, etc).

Phi (Pi) is the most perfect number that exists. Blackboard is also 'perfect'. Everything in the world is linked to Phi: a pentagram, man itself (the famous man from Da Vinci), ...

PhiBoard [fiboard] sounds good and is, like Phi, perfect...  :finger:

Yes, it's some kind of download page. I couldn't find out how legal that one is. But it doesn't matter anyway. I'm also not a big fan of letter abbreviations unless they can build a well-sounding word. "phpbb" would be inacceptable, for example, and "yibbs" is kind of hard to pronounce as a word.

I appreciate your participation on this and your suggestions for a new name, but I have to admit that I couldn't get into it very well [is this the correct translation?]... Don't take it personal, I know myself it's hard to find a real good name for something. Since I need to come to a decision soon, I'd like to hear your opinion about these two proposals: "pixelboard" and "unclassified newsboard".

pixelboard: It's small, it's not widely spread, it's designed very precisely (mentioned on page 2). Concentrates on the essential. The logo could be a 'big' pixel with some decoration around, a rather minimalistic icon.

unclassified anything(newsboard, discussion board, web forum, ...): Also described on page 2, but this one is longer and probably needs an abbreviation more than a short name. Also I wouldn't have a logo idea for it yet.

My current vote would go for "pixelboard" then. Yours?
