Subject: sendmail
Is it possible to send emails via sendmail instead of SMTP?  My host won't allow SMTP, but I can use sendmail.

Not currently. The PHP mail() function does not allow detailed error return messages so that debugging this is not easy. But anyway, did you mean this? http://blackboard.unclassified.de/taskview.php?taskid=104

Yes, to be able so send emails with sendmail would be great!  I'm happy to see this on your task list.  I'll be patient.

Is it possible to turn off all notification links and email buttons temporarily?  None of them work right now.

No, this is not possible, too. But IIRC there was demand for that so I'll consider making a configuration option for that in the next version.

For now you could find any occurance of the e-mail image (see the design configuration for exact syntax) and comment them out.

But you won't be able to mail to other users and you cannot use e-mail validation until then. Tell me, don't you have an SMTP account anywhere? How do you write your personal e-mails from home? I bet you have SMTP for that, no?

What is that? SMTP-AUTH? That would be supported. If you mean some kind of CRAM, I'd have to look up if it's supported. But what use does that have on a local connection? (Except your mail server is somewhere else on the internet than the web server...)

My web host does not allow us to use SMTP for some security reasons.  They do allow us to use sendmail though.  If I were to use SMTP, I would have to use one outside my local server.

LOL nice. :) Well, sorry, sendmail isn't in at this time. But I think it'll come, I just don't know exactly when right now.
