Subject: UNB & Internet Explorer 7
Hey,
did someone test the UNB on IE7 Beta yet?
What does it look like?
Does the Internet Explorer 7 support Alpha Channels in PNGs?
What about the lagging CSS-Conformity in actual releases?
Would be great to get some information on this topic!

I happen to have Internet Explorer 7.0.5308.17 (Beta 2) on Windows Vista CTP here. Just checking this website in IE7...

It still shows weird lines and stuff in the forums overview. (Partial horizontal borders where none should be, just like in IE6.) It seems to handle PNG alpha transparency well. The form controls (radio/checkboxes, buttons) look really nice in the default theme. It still doesn't handle the <label> tags like they're in this forum. Once I opened the task manager, IE stopped loading any URL until I restarted it. Logging in only works in the 4th try or so, before that, nothing happens. And then, it somehow submits my login data wrong so that the board doesn't accept my password. So I cannot use UNB with IE7. Hope they fix this until the final release. Giving up now due to too many errors.

Well, seems like we'd have to wait for any new RC or the final version... :-/
Hopefully MS fixes those errors you described, as they oviously are produced by the IE...

I think I know why it wouldn't let me log in. Vista has the inappropriate behaviour that I cannot remove the EN keyboard layout and it always selects this layout on its own. I have a character in my password that is different on both layouts. Gonna test it later. But apart from that, IE7 can display transparent PNGs but is no better otherwise. So we'll keep our hacks and browser switches and everything remains as bad as it is – Use Firefox! :)

Another test with the latest IE7 beta 2, released on March 20, 2006, at MIX06:

It seems to do a better job at CSS 2, at least my latest test page was rendered perfectly, in contrast to the IE7 "beta 2" of Vista CTP-February. So it looks like the final IE7 will be able to apply all styles on input controls in UNB like Firefox and Opera do. I dropped IE6 support with UNB 1.6 in favour of CSS 2, since then all input controls have their default style in IE6.

But I couldn't make an actual test of the board because IE7 (for Windows XP) crashed on every UNB 1.6 board I wanted to visit. The UNB homepage was still fine, but two boards I wanted to enter just made the browser exit with an application error, something with "SysFader". This is actually no good news, but it's a beta, so let's hope it'll turn good at last.

Will UNB combatible with IE7? 50-60% of my visitors use the IE and I don't want to loose them when IE7 is finally out.
I use also the IE7 (public beta) and can't use my board with it because of a application error which closes the whole IE instance. Why?

I don't want to move to another board but I have to hear on my visitors too. And when the biggest part of them want to use the IE then my board have to display everything correct in the IE  and without closing the whole IE.

It's not realy up to UNB. You should ask the question to the IE developers.
But the IE7 now isn't the final product yet, so it may become better.

Hi there.
I installed this day the beta2 of Windows Vista, including IE7+ (Build 7.0.5384.4) and at the moment I post this post with this IE. It seems Microsoft fixed this bug of the last beta.
I had no crashes. And all of the CSS2 stuff looks realy beatiful even in IE. :-)

Oh, didn't I say it here... I checked it with beta2 (from Vista beta2) then and it worked. I added some tewaks so that IE7 gets to see more of our nice transparent graphics instead of plain colours, and it looks pretty nice.

Just installed IE7 Beta 3 (7.0.5450.4) and thta solved the crashing problem.  But page loads and typing response are horrific.  Anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?
