Subject: Related threads and Rating topics + Karma and Reputation
Hi. These features would be awesome to have.

Related threads Shows related threads underneath the thread, it could work that is has same words or something.

Topic ratings What more to say? Allow people to rate topics, 1-10.

User-karma/reputation This feature would allow people to rate a person if they wrote a nice message, then they will get more reputation. And people can go the one's profile and add more karma if they think it is a nice person.

Would be awesome.

Another suggestion is viewing users browsing a topic, right now you can only see if a user is browsing a forum.

Subject: Not view filename of attachment for guests
Third suggestion is an option to not view the file name of the attachments for guests or better not even show that there is an attachment for guests.

Another suggestion is that the member can choose what people can see and download the attachment, lets say I wanna give a file to Yves, but not to anyone, then I just write "Only show to Yvez", you can add as many people you would like or give access for a specific usergroup. This could work fine with the upcoming PM forumsystem.

Copyright line: This might be easy, but the admin should have the option to have a copyright line in the footer, the admin should be able to write any text there. Example: Copyright My Forum.

Calendar and Gallery as default. They might be available as plugins and modifications, but if it is included and supported as default gives great benefits.

Filevault this would work as a download center. The admin (or given users or usergroups) can upload files that other people can download, users can see the most popular downloads, sort by different options and so on.

Custom Pages also known as the plugin infopages, so you can make it like a website too, make custom information pages. Would also be great.

Flash and videos while this might seem like a security risk, it does add interaction at the other hand, so you can add flash videos from videosites, flash animations and such.

PS. You can merge my other suggestions threads into this one!

Subject: Documentation/Help
Documentation/Help on each forum. So users can learn how to use the forum. This should be in a new what I call it "design tab" in a new page navigation button.

More to say would be: People are too lazy to rate anything. Rating can be misused by minorities. What does it say other users? Plain old thread/user/... rating is plain useless IMO. Discussed several times before, too.

See user rating above, but this still seems slightly more reasonable. I do have plans for a useful implementation for UNB2, but they're very vague yet.

What would that help you? I don't think I'll even add the "users in this forum" thing again. This is a board, not a presence system like Jabber. It cannot publish presences by design. "Being somewhere" means "having been there within 5 minutes and not having been somewhere else meanwhile". What could you do with that information?

vBulletin is an example, just check out some vBulletin forum. For example, lets say you are browsing a software topics and you might be interested in that particular topic, then you can find other similar about the same topic.

Some might like it, some not. Should be an option.

Not showing it at all would be a very big confusion for guests. "I've released a new version of my stuff." (Member grabs the attachment.) Guest: "Huh, where?!" Not revealing details about the attachment, like the name, would only be consequent and I could think about doing that.

This is indeed covered by the planned private/group messaging system.

I'm not planning to integrate a calendar or a [photo] gallery into the board. If somebody makes plugins for that, that's fine and I'll support any plugin writer as good as I can, but I personally don't see so much use in it that I'd put my resources into it. UNB is still a somewhat minimalistic system that doesn't arrive at the admin too bloated by anything.

You mean like the user pages in a Wiki? Maybe with UNB2.

And any flash animation that a user posts to the thread then starts immediately? All at the same time? The same counts for videos that don't come with a "start me" button. Hm... no. ;) A simple URL/link to the resource itself or a page containing it is good enough I think.

Actually, I'd prefer making the board intuitive enough so that an external documentation isn't necessary anymore. Be honest, who reads a manual?

A Calendar would be a very useful feature for people who use the board to talk about visiting concerts and other events.

The existing Plugin (http://newsboard.unclassified.de/forum/thread/987) has an error, so it sometimes shows wrong weekdays.
