Conversion methods? I wonder if we are talking about the same thing.
Let me be more specific.
I created a custom page that shows the custom page by clicking on the new tab at the top navigator, and of course it is a plug-in that can be activated or disabled in the control panel. I also created a page for the control panel hook that shows options for each user to be able to configure.

So I'm wondering if UNB2 will have a completely different custom page plug-in system, or basically the same. I guess now you are telling me that all the hooks will be different in UNB2.

OK. Another question:
How about the translation files? Will they all need to be completely redone?
I suppose they will.

OK, A more practical question:
How long until UNB2 is released? Will there be an import UNB 1.6.x to UNB2 function? Or is UNB2 not going to have a forum?
Thanks. And sorry for all the questions.  :-)

To make it clear: UNB2 is a totally different thing than UNB1. You will most likely not be able to reuse anything that you have right now.

UNB2 is more about the components behind it. The library you will get will enable you to integrate group communication features into your existing PHP-based website. There will be an example application that basically only makes use of those components to show you how it can be done. That application will look like a web forum software, but it will likely not be very polished, that's up to you. UNB2 is mainly serving developers, not users.

This is why UNB2 will not supersede UNB1. It's a parallel development. UNB1 will still be supported any maybe further developed as there is demand and I have time or somebody should help me. But if you feel like you want to use UNB2 instead, you can decide to do so.

There's no schedule for UNB2. I know from today's perspective that it sounds a lot like vaporware. Maybe for some definition of the term it really is. For now. But it's definitely working, it is already serving my personal web photo album, including public comments feature. I'm still busy with working in my new flat, but as that calms down a bit, I intend to clean up things with UNB2 and release a version that Microsoft would call "community technology preview (CTP)", an alpha version with no guaranteed stable API. Only so that you can get an impression of it. This should happen in spring this year. As of today, it's not feature-complete and the UI (what will become the example application) is kind of primitive. So much for a release date...

I may write a conversion script for your UNB1 content at some time, or somebody else does it, but it will not be a fully automatic process since UNB1 has subforums and UNB2 only has tags instead. You will either need to assign tags for each thread or provide some mapping. Also, the default markup language for UNB2 is a different (and incompatible) one than for UNB1, but you could possibly extend the example application (or your site using UNB2 components) to also include the older ABBC parser. You can already see the new markup language in action on the UNB2 project site.
