Subject: Integration help
Hi,
I am not sure if I can implement what i want with easy. I want to have a common login to the forum and site. Well i got the idea for that from other posts. Well my next requirement is to remove the top banner, the tabs and also the login fields. I just need the forum (I am not planning to change the looks. It is simple and simply awesome ). Not only that I would like to have an admin interface for the forum from an admin panel I have created for the site. Is these things possible? I hope I will get a reply to this post soon. Thanks.

Common login means exactly what? Do you have other applications that you want to integrate UNB with? Or is it just offering the login controls from others of your pages? (The latter has been discussed here quite recently.)

Removing the top logo, navigation and login controls from the UNB design can be done in the template file _head.html. But remember that you may need to care for suitable replacement or half of your forum won't be accessible anymore, like personal/admin settings and the search function.

I don't understand the last sentence ("Not only that I ..."), please reformulate or explain.

Thanks for that quick reply. Well about the login, yes I have separate controls and I saw discussion about it before.  With the last sentence I mean I would like to integrate the admin page of the forum within the admin section I have created for the site. The admin side of my site got a lot of menu links and one of it will be forum. When clicking I it would like to display the page with the controls to administer the entire forum. Well I think I may need to know how the forum make use of its database tables in order to implement that. I hope I am clear about my requirement now :)

So you want to include UNB's admin settings into your own admin CP? You could...
  • ... copy the entire functionality of UNB into your application. Those settings are mostly stored in the board.conf.php file, not in the database. This is the most complicated way. The best documentation you can get is probebly the source code itself. cp.inc.php is about 110 kB large...
  • ... go some unclear way between the previous and the next solution (maybe something with iframes or modifying the templates...)
  • ... just put a link to UNB's admin settings pages in your link collection. You must be logged in to UNB as an administrator user to use this.
