Subject: Forum's broken - is it my fault?
The other day I upgraded to Opera beta 10, and found that I could no longer post to my UNB installation...

Well today I noticed that I can't delete posts either.  I _think_ the two are unrelated, but I can't be totally sure...  Posting works if I go back to IE or Opera 9.*, and I can post to THIS UNB forum just fine, but deleting is now completely broken on my forums.

Press REMOVE
Window asks "sure delete?"
Press YES
A new page loads, apparently EDITING the post.  It cannot be deleted.

Now, I've manually applied Yves' recent security fixes, but I didn't think I went near anything that would break post deletion.

Where should I begin looking?  What file or files are used when deleting a post?

Thanks for any pointers...

Uneducated guess: start with a javascript debugger in Opera 10...

Yeah, I tried that.  I'm not getting any .js errors.

The problem appears to be the fault of my server.  Some links are randomly inheriting an extra /index.php/ which is breaking things quite annoyingly.

1. Which faults are Opera 10-only (those cannot be server-specific - in theory)
2. What's the <base/> of your pages? Is it already broken?

Sorry Jense, it seems to be a coincidence that I couldn't post on the same day I installed Opera 10.  The problem was wholly created by my server.

I run Aprelium's Abyss server, which changed the way it communicated with PHP sometime in the recent past, and I never made the appropriate switch in the server config.  It had almost no effect except to change the way it handled some $_SERVER vars.  Where it used to return a directory, it started returning the directory including the PHP file, so that /dir/index.php became /dir/index.php/dir/.  As you can imagine, this broke things rather spectacularly.

Weirdly though it broke Opera completely, but only partially broke IE7.  Neither browser could delete a post, but IE could still create them where Opera could not.

Making a simple select-from-dropdown change in the server's PHP config solved everything.

I had the same problem when I updated to the 2009-06-06 version - when I tried to edit, delete or create a post it wouldn't save.

I found that when I changed my forum design (under Board Appearance in Settings) back from my own custom design to UNB Modern everything worked again. There must be some changes in the designs folder with this latest version (or somewhere in between my previous version and this). I'm now going to make changes to a copy of the latest UNB Modern and discard my old custom design folder.

You might want to read UNB's change log (note the red warnings) about design and translation changes.
