Of course it will not be a word-by-word translation. The problem is that the portuguese language has a tendency to use longer words and sentences than the english language to say the same thing. So I need to keep it short (sometimes using completely diferent phrases) in order to keep the original site design (namely the tabs at the top of the page).
One thing that would be nice to implement would be a checkbox near the place where you select your preferred language in order to override the browser setting (I use the english Firefox and I had to reconfigure it with the portuguese language in order to check my translation in progress - even though I like to use the english language).
