Subject: Version 1.5.3
I have just released the 1.5.3 stable version of the Unclassified NewsBoard (formerly known as BlackBoard). It is again the latest code version that was previously available as development snapshots.
From now on, this software is called the "Unclassified NewsBoard" Forum. The new name was necessary due to a naming conflict with another company. There has been discussion about it in this forum.
This version features an advanced thread/forum handling concerning hiding or ignoring 'irrelevant' content. You can hide forums or threads that you don't want to see in the listings and you can ignore forums or threads so that you will no longer be informed about new posts in them. Unread threads can be auto-ignored with the "mark all forums/threads read" function. This should greatly enhance your comfort with the "unread posts" search.
We now have basic plug-in support. It does not yet reach up until the user interface, but the wordfilter, which is the other major change in this release, is already implemented using the plug-in interface.
On upgrading, you need to run the install/upgrade script to convert the database and add required new configuration options. You will be notified in the board whenever this upgrade is necessary.
Of course, a lot of little new features and configuration options were added and even more little bugs were fixed. Please have a look at the change log for details.

You may also have noticed the updated roadmap. I have decided to put another 1.5.x release before version 1.6. I first want to tidy up the code, its output and update parts of the internal application architecture. I want to get my rock-solid codebase back first before adding further functionality. This will include enhanced usability, a smoother design and better documentation, mainly for developers. This will take a little more time than recent releases. Additionally, I won't have that much time the next couple of months as I had up to now. So expect version 1.5.4 around June/July of 2005, according to the current roadmap.

- Version 1.5.3 basiert wieder auf dem aktuellen Code-Stand
- Das Forum heißt aufgrund eines Namenskonfliktes ab jetzt "Unclassified NewsBoard"
- Neues Feature: Verstecken/Ignorieren von Foren/Themen. Ungelesene Themen können beim "alle Foren/Themen als gelesen markieren" automatisch ignoriert werden. Das sollte die Übersichtlichkeit der Suche nach "ungelesenen Beiträgen" verbessern.
- Neues Feature: Wortfilter. Dieser wurde bereits als Plug-In entworfen, die Plug-In-Schnittstelle ist ebenfalls neu, wenn auch noch nicht sehr ausgeprägt.
- Beim Aktualisieren des Forums muss das Installations/Aktualisierungs-Skript aufgerufen werden, bei Bedarf erscheint eine Warnung darüber.

- Aktualisierte Roadmap: Es wird eine weitere 1.5.x-Version vor 1.6 geben, in der ich zuerst aufräumen will, bevor ich neue Funktionen hinzufüge. Da ich demnächst weniger Zeit als bisher haben werde, ist mit Version 1.5.4 derzeit im Juni/Juli 2005 zu rechnen.
