Subject: Some BUGS in 1.5.3
1) I've no idea since when I can't add smiliess to this textarea (while creating new topic or replying to a topic). I clicked on the smiley but nothing happens (or specifically nothing is added to the compose area). For your information it works for version 1.5.1. I'm on WinXP, IE6 with all default settings on Privacy/Security tabs in the IE Options.

2) Shouldn't the Advance Option NOT shown on the Overview (mainpage) of the forum? Because it does nothing there, or am I missing something? Hmm.......

Thanks, hope the forum gets improved over time!:)

1) Hmm, yes. I was pointed on that some time ago. That's an Internet Explorer bug actually. You have to decide: Cool-looking smilies with alpha transparency or clickable smilies for IE. I chose not to give up the design just for Microsoft's current incapability.

2) You're right partially. Yes, you cannot hide the overview forum itself. But you can ignore the overview forum (well, almost, you can't post there yet and ignoring is not recursive iirc) and you can show hidden forums there. Maybe I should take some links out that make no sense (yet).

You must have encountered the "// something went wrong now" line. Could you please check if it's normal again when you stop ignoring or hiding the overview forum? Could be these options actually do something... even if undesiredly.

P/s: I checked again and the double same rows are still there..

Well, when you click on the link, you express your intention to ignore/hide it, right? Now look at the link again, it should say you can stop ignoring/hiding it again! :D That's all there is. Sounds easy, doesn't it? ;)

Hmm....Since (there goes again :D) more than 80% of my members are using MSIE, I can't give up on this, so I guess there is no chance for me to upgrade my forum yet until this has been fixed for IE.

3) Oh yeah, why is the "Open links in new window" option is missing from my Control Panel? And now all links are opened in the same window, which is not desirable. Pleaseeee don't remove this behavior (I mean all other forums feature this link behavior)

A-ha! Nope I didn't/don't see that I can "Stop" ignoring/hiding anything from the same link on the Overview page, that's why I was confused on what you actually meaned in your previous post ;)

I'll make an option to easily disable the IE hack for you, OK? :) But you need to find/create a limited smilies set then because the current ones will look really ugly...

3) Oh yeah, why is the "Open links in new window" option is missing from my Control Panel?

It's not XHTML 1 compliant. Also, any decent browser (even IE) gives you full control over where you want to open a link to. Simple click for the same window, use Shift+Click to open a new window and use Middleclick to open a new tab. I have received sufficient feedback the auto-open in new windows is not useful. You can re-enable it globally if you like, though, in your ABBC tags configuration. I need to look up where to place this. But be sure to disable XHTML mode or browsers might fail rendering the page.

Oh mine, that will be an impossible mission for me (a graphic idiot) to create a smilies set :D

By the way who (at least my forum members and me!) cares if it's XHTML compliant? Even though I too heard that XML/XHTML will replace HTML one day, I don't think it will be in the near future. Sorry if I sound like a noobie (I certainly is lol) ;)

Hi Yves
I tried to fix the png ie problem and it worked.
On http://www.pctipp.ch/helpdesk/kummerkasten/archiv/internet… , it says how you do it.

Unfortunately it works for me only in the <img> tag. It doesn't work in general. But I'm new to css, maybe you find out how to put it in the css file.

The initial post of this thread shows what will happen when you apply this hack. I had this very hack (only in a different implementation form) in 1.5 and decided to take it out. Afaik there is no other hack making IE show transparent PNGs correctly. Again, you need to decide: transparent PNGs or clickable PNGs. I went for clickable ones.
