Subject: Polish translation for UNB-dev 20051122
Hello :)

As I promise some days... weeks... hmmm.... months :) ago... I try to make a translation of UNB.  It's not full version, but I think I never make it myself. Why? I think files "controlpanel_admin.php" and "register.php" shouldn't be translated for some reasons by me.

First - IMO it's better for board-administrator to see Control Panel with Yves'  original English translation. Polish is very strange language and after translation it may be problems with precise troubles with script and/or board-configuration on this forum. Administrator must know English!

Second - IMO translation of file "register.php" should be made by every administrator himself. There are different terms for different boards, there is no possibility to meet expectations of all administrators in one translation. My sugestion - do it yourself if you want to have good and comfortable user-registration.

For these reasons I added original English translations "controlpanel_admin.php" and "register.php" to attached file "pl.rar".

I know, there are similiar projects of Polish translations but it is insignificant for me. I promise to make my own translation long, long ago and here it is. It's not perfect but works good and gives easy start with UNB-board :)

PS. I don't think I'll make translation for 1.5.3, because I use newest version of script always and I haven't old translation files. Sorry Yves.

I'm currently looking at the files. Some notes from my side:

  • If you are the author of these files, please put your name in this line. My name doesn't need to remain in there, it's your file now. (To be documented on the new web page for this soon.)
  • At least in case of "bookmark" you missed the ".num1" part. I'm sure (from the other texts nearby) that one bookmark is another word than 0, 2, or more bookmarks. You removed some of those lines, and left others.
  • You may localise the default date format, if it is different in Polish. It's a translation file's job to set this correctly.
  • It would be nice if you use the country flag from the UNB download page. I create all these flags myself based on high-res Wikipedia flags so that they all have more or less the same style.
  • "polski" in your name.txt is written in lower case
  • I understand that you don't translate the registration terms, but the rest of the form would be handy to have in the native language. This is an important page for new users.

Apart from that, it looks good. Encoding is correct, no page display errors using these files. I don't understand a single word in my own test forum - that's how it should be! :)

PS: Is this translation from the unb-pl SourceForge project? I'm kind of confused that multiple people are creating a Polish translation now.

1. you're author of these files, I'm translating only. I'd like to see there you (author) and me (translator) if it's possible.
2. thx, I check it.
3. default date format in Poland is d-m-y, not m-d-y like in UK and others. it's personal choice, but I check it.
4. ok :)
5. there in no uppercase in Polish when we're writing name of language. "polski" (Polish), angielski ("English"), niemiecki ("German") - it's correct in our language. Uppercase is applied in event when we writing names like "English Language School in X-City" etc.
6. OK, I think about it :)

PS. No, it isn't translation from specified project. Long, long ago I promise to you I make translation and it's done. I give my files to _Pat and people from this project, but it's verion is my personal work. I done first (not perfect, but first) translation for UNB-1.5.x and now I give to UNB-fans my first development of UNB-1.6 translation. I'm independent in my work like you in your work. I like to do everything myself :)

Lower case "polski": Yes, maybe, but do you also write the first word in a sentence lower case? I think it just looks better to start with a capital "P", next to all the other capital words.

You're the author. My name is already in the UNB copyright note above... :D (Why didn't have anyone else the idea to add a new line there?)

Well, when the guys from unb-pl.sf.net have their translation finished, I'll have to see what to do. Actually I'm a little opposed to offering two different translations of the same language. You'll have to merge your independant work then. ;)

To be honest...

I'm little confused that lot of people make Polish translation. "Project"? Blah, it's funny. Some people which has my translation from some days ago can't do translation themselves! I'm start to regret I give them my files - their translation has to slow progress IMO! Some people, some days, my files and... no translation! It's poor joke I think huh :/
