in fact because it is not working i have tried to install 1.5.3 and then to upgrade .
1.5.3 is well installed and everything is working perfectly
but i can't upgrade

you say in the documentation : Upgrading from version 1.5 to 1.6 is a little more complex though
what do we have to do excepted to change :

lib_path = unb_lib/
lib_url = unb_lib/
log_path = unb_lib/logs/

in the 1.5.3 workiing configuration file ?

and in fact, i can't find this sentence "lib_url = unb_lib/" with the search function of Dreamweaver ... weird ...

Yes, i have finally succeeded in installing UNB
But some bugs always exist .. and i don't know why ..

First : i need to write the complete adress to go to the board , i mean www .... com/unb/forum.php
if i just write xxxx.com/unb i can see the directory content
This happens on Safari (mac) and IE
Under Firefox i got this error :

"Erreur de parsing XML : pas bien formé Emplacement : http://www. xxxxxxxx .com/forums/forum.php Numéro de ligne 5, Colonne 88 :"

it is french :-p .. parsing error in fact .. why ? i ve touched nothing ... then the font size seems to be bigger than the one on this forum ... weird again ..

i hope you could help me
and even if i m in trouble  "good job yves " ..

as you can see here http://bezoard.com/forums/forum.php?req=main&id=4, the forum structure seems to be desorganized .. i mean that nothing is aligned ..

but when i enable the function on UNB

Depending on the operating system, the following possible problems come to my mind right now:

  • When replacing the file import_phpbb2.php, the access mode could be changed so that install.php cannot read it anymore.

Hm, nothing more. You could try and debug the source code in install.php around the line with "// IMPORT" (1030) and see why it doesn't find that file.

Exactly.

Well, then just add it. It's a new option in UNB 1.6. :)

Your server doesn't seem to use .htaccess files. Other solution, since you mentioned Safari: Mac OS X seems incapable of displaying dot files (e.g. .htaccess) to the user. Make sure that these files get uploaded to the web location as well, otherwise some features won't be accessible and you may even get some security problems. See the development documentation about .htaccess files for details on their meaning.

I did understand that much of French. :-p And could it be you're using a French translation? Try to use the English one. If you can't access the page, change your language preference in your browser, then the board will use the other language, if installed.

And who said I use the default design in this board? ;)

and even if i m in trouble  "good job yves " ..

Thanks. :)

Aah, this is the <title> and &amp; bug. (Your Firefox XML problem.) This has been addressed in another thread somewhere around and is already fixed for future releases. Hope I'll get to packing one this week.

Nothing aligned? I can't access your URL (forum 4). Can you post a screenshot please?

Can you try to play with the commented Apache directive "RewriteBase"? There's a web link to the Apache documentation for it. If that doesn't help, your browser doesn't seem to have it set up correctly. I've never experienced problems with this on any of my server installations (Apache 1 and 2 on both Windows and Linux).

The import script for UNB 1.6 is included in the archive, inside the "extra/import" directory.
