Mehrere Codes für einen Smilie

Gibt es die Möglichkeit mehrere Codes für einen Smilie zu nutzen, so dass z.B. ;) und ;-) beide diesen Smilie ergeben.
Wenn ich in der Config einfach den Smilieblock kopiere und statt ;) ein ;-) eingebe habe ich ja zweimal den gleichen Smilie in der Auswahl stehen was blöd aussieht.

I'm trying to create a minimalist template, and I'm stripping out most of the graphics and as much CSS as I can. I've run into a problem though, with f.desc. I'm trying to make it a hover-to-read feature, rather than a separate line, in forumlist.html.

What I want is this:

{$f.name}
But while f.name is a plaintext chunk, f.desc includes extra, unwanted code. Instead of this:

Forum Name
I get this:

FORUMTITLE">Forum Name
As you can see, there's a added to the forum title, which completely breaks the page design. Why is this the only string (so far) lucky enough to have a element added? I can't find the file that creates this string so I can stop it from happening...

Remark: there is a small bug in the main menu: In FF3 the entries overlap vertically; in Safari the menus wrap, but only after being completely outside the page first (one menu could be invisible) ... although noone would really require access Statistics or Members desparately.

Custompage plugin

I'm trying to create my own custom pages for the forum, and running into difficulty when I try to figure out which instances of 'custompage' I should replace with the names of my own page. I think it's confusing to have the name of the example page identical to the name of the internal process names.

A straight search & replace would not only change the places it SHOULD, but also places like UnbHookCustomPageHandleRequest which I'm pretty sure shouldn't be changed!

It took forever to make it change the name on the tab. Finally got that sorted and am now trying to sort out all the right instances of custompage to change... Perhaps, Yves, you could make this easier in the future? (Or am I just an idiot? I leave that question to the philosophers!)

Yeah, I guess I just needed to keep trying. A search and replace for every instance of 'custompage' and @custompage was just about all of them. Finally, I had to change plugins/custompage.inc.php as well.

Eigene div-Box "beschneidet" vorgegebene divs

Der Titel mag etwas verwirrend sein, aber das Problem ist mit dem PrintScreen einfach zu erklären (siehe Anhang).
Ich bastle grad etwas an meinem Design und da fällt mir auf, dass mein zusätzliches div mit der beige-hellbraunen Hintergrundfarbe nicht bis zum Seitenende mitgeht.

Vom Aufbau her ist's so: ich hab zwischen dem Logo-div und dem "angemeldet als [name]" ein div eingefügt (div#forumsinhalt), und dieses dann mit eben jenem beige-hellbraunen Farbton versehen (dazu noch ein 10px-padding und ein margin: 0 100px; für schönere Abstände).

Wieso geht jetzt mein eingefügtes div mit dem div .page_outer_container und nicht mit div .categories_outer_container mit? Denn dem Quellcode nach sind beide container im div#forumsinhalt enthalten; folglich sollte mein div die container nicht beschneiden. Wieso dann doch?
Ich kann euch noch den Quellcode der Seite zeigen, wenn ihr wollt.

Hintergrund mit überlagernden Images

Hi alle zusammen. Ich versuch gerade von einem Perl-basierenden Forum aufs UNB umzusteigen und bin schon auf erste Probleme gestossen, da ich mich sehr wenig mit PHP auskenne (hm... die templates sind zwar html, aber trotzdem).

Wie der Titel schon andeutet, möchte ich nicht einfach nur ein Image als Hintergrund, sondern noch in jeder ein Ecke eines, die den Hintergrund dann quasi einrahmen.

dem Link folgend seht ihr wie ich mir das vorstelle. Wie ihr jetzt seht, hat das (mit Biegen und Brechen ) auch geklappt, indem ich einfach das template etwas überarbeitet hab ( "[...]" soll heissen, dass dort noch mehr Code ist, der aber für meine Frage unwesentlich ist) :

ich moechte das toplogo im board mittig setzen - das problem ich weis nicht wie. in css dateien habe ich nicht der gleichen gefunden.
erbarmt sich jemand meinereiner und sagt mir wie ich es doch noch zu stand bekomme?

ich denke mal, das es recht simpel ist und ich nur tomaten auf den augen habe....

Basic tips to customise how UNB looks

I've been using UNB for a while now and think it works well (www.thetreehouseguide.com/forum/forum.php). However, to try and make it match my main site I made a couple of changes to the design. As this was not obviously documented I've put together this basic list for others doing the same. I have some CSS knowledge, but little PHP, so there may be better ways to do this.

Create your own design template
1. Copy the /unb_lib/designs/modern folder and rename the copied folder with your design name, eg /unb_lib/designs/newdesign.
2. To get the forum to use this design, open board.conf.php in the main forum folder. Change the line design = modern to design = newdesign (I couldn't get the usual method in the admin settings Board Appearance to work so this can probably be set up differently).
3. Check your forum is working as normal before starting on any changes.

Add your own logo
1. Upload your logo to /unb_lib/designs/newdesign/img. The image can be almost any size but is best restricted in width to 750px to work on smaller screens.
1. Go into the newdesign folder and edit config.php. Adjust the line $UNB['Image']['toplogo'] = 'src="' . $imgurl . 'logo_unb_dark.png" width="343" height="36"'; as appropriate (this tip from elsewhere in the UNB forum). There are a lot of other images referenced here which can be changed in the same way.

Change the navigation link text
I found the standard Main site and Forum labels were slightly confusing to visitors. You can change the text of these links (and any other button link throughout UNB) by changing the language files.
1. Open the lang/en folder in the forum root.
2. Open common.php and change the text $UNB_T['main site'] = 'Main site'; as appropriate. In my case this was changed to the name of my main site.
3. Make the same change in the lang/de folder if the text is appropriate in German.

Add extra navigation links
There is a plugin to do this. See http://newsboard.unclassified.de/forum/thread/904. I used this method to add a new Contact link to the contact page on my main site.

Adjust the forum colours to match your site
This is covered elsewhere in the forums in more detail. The only changes I made were to remove the background image (which creates the scan lines grey/white pattern) and to change the background colour, both of which can be done by changing just one line of code. This CSS file allows lots of control over all layout aspects of the forum.
1. Open unb_lib/designs/newdesign/css/common.css.php.
2. Find the entry below and adjust the parts marked in bold as appropriate. Deleting url(../img/back_hlines.png) entirely removes the background (leave the ;). Changing the hex value #FFFFFF changes the solid background colour - this default is white.

These are basic tips only but do seem to work. When making any major changes to your code it is always worth making a copy of the complete working forum before you begin!

I needed compilation of most emots that where in different default sets, so I took code from every config file and paste it to one "global" file. I had to rename also image files and make some changes in code because of duplicate entries. There are also few new emots added by me. All emots are visible under "Smilies" button.
Most popular entries like :), ;) etc., will display IPB emots - users want them, I rather like transparent.

Design in Arbeit + eine Frage

Hallo ale zusammen!

Zum einen möchte ich diesen Thread benutzen um anzukündigen dass ich in den letzten paar Wochen an einem kompletten Design Re-Work für das UNB gearbeitet habe. Er ist noch lange nicht fertig, aber ich bin an den Punkt angelangt wo ich denke dass ich es schonmal ankündigen und ein paar Screenshots zeigen kann.

Hinzu kommt, dass ich auf ein paar "Altlasten" gestoßen bin, im Datenlayout, die den Designprozess schwierig gestalten. Darum hier noch ein paar Anmerkungen exrta für Yves.

unb_lib/search.inc.php ~ Zeile 50+: Hier wird die Variable $more_search_links mit einem String gefüllt der eine Tabelle der erweiterten Suchoptionen beinhaltet. Das verbaut einem natürlich die Möglichkeit hier irgendwie in die Formatierung einzugreifen. Ich plädiere für ein assoziatives Array in dem die Links einzeln hinterlegt werden.

Hi, ich würde gern meinem Forum im "inneren" also vom Header bis zum Footer einen weissen Hintregrund verpassen.
Außen soll sich ein Hintergrundbild wiederholen (das ist kein Problem)

Welche Box muss ich bei den CSS-Dokumenten verändern damit z.B. bei diesem Forum vom rechten Ende des headers bis zum linken ende und bis nach ganz unten zum footer einen weissen Hintergrund bekomme.

Unterhalb den einzelnen Boxen, wo z.B. der Name für die Forenkategorie steht oder in der die Foren aufgelistet sind ist ein Schatten.
Den würde ich gerne entfernen.
Das geht wahrscheinlich per CSS, ich habe im CSS Ordner und den darin enthaltenen Dateien aber leider nichts gefunden.

Wenn ich das Bild aber jetzt auswechsel, dann wird das neue zusammengestaucht auf die Grösse vom alten Bild.

Meine Frage jetzt wäre wie ich das ändern kann. Das selbe problem habe ich übrigens auch beim Header.

CSS Tricks für Fortgeschrittene

Hallöchen, ich arbeite beruflich und auch privat ein wenig mit CSS und (X)HTML und hab' ein paar CSS Tricks und ähnliches entwickelt die ich gerne veröffentlichen würde.

Da das Thema wohl am ehesten den Designaspekt von UNB berührt werde ich es hier veröffentlichen, in der Hoffnung dass es hilfreich ist und noch weiter entwickelt werden kann.

Grafische Rahmen für "Box"-Elemente

Jeder kennt das hier wohl, man hat ein Blockelement und würde ihm gerne einen schicken grafischen Rahmen verpassen. Dummerweise weiß man nicht genau wie hoch und wie breit es sein wird. Es gibt hier bereits mehrere Ansätze, die jedoch alle nicht perfekt sind.
Ich habe meinen eigenen Ansatz entwickelt, der mir persönlich am ehesten zusagt, da er auch eine tiefe Verschachtelung von Elementen verzichtet, absolute Freiheit bei der Gestaltung bietet und auch bei kleinen Grafikdateien beliebige Größen ermöglicht.

Bevor ich weiter abschweife hier erstmal der HTML Code:

Ok. Es ist ein wenig Overhead vorhanden, aber durch kürzere Klassennamen und knappere Notation lässt sich hier noch einiges an Platz gutmachen. Für den Zweck dieses Tutorials werde ich jedoch darauf verzichten da es die Lesbarkeit beeinflusst.
Wie man erkennen kann verwende ich pro Element zwei Klassen. Dies tue ich, um den CSS Code knapper halten zu können und um die allgemeine Rahmenlogik von der Designlogik für diesen speziellen Rahmen zu trennen. Dies wird dann nützlich wenn man mehr als eine Rahmenart auf einer Seite unterbringen will.

Gehen wir am besten Schritt für Schritt vor.
Zuerst schauen wir uns einmal das Container-DIV an:

div.bordered { position:relative; }
Das war's auch schon. Das DIV ist relativ positioniert um als Bezugspunkt für absolut positionierte Elemente innerhalb zu dienen. Mehr dazu später...

Die weitere generelle Rahmenlogik findet sich in den 9 DIVs innerhalb des Containers:

Wie man sieht gelten diese CSS Regeln für alle Rahmenelemente, egal ob der Container nun die Klasse simple für seinen Rahmen verwendet, oder nicht.

Desweiteren fällt auf, dass alle Rahmen absolut positioniert sind und die 4 DIVs, die für die Seiten stehe, zudem height:100%;, bzw. width:100%; haben. Dies führt zu dem unerwüschnten Effekt dass diese sich überlappen und bis in die Ecken dargestellt werden.
Dieser Punkt hat mich etwas aufgehalten, bis ich auf die Idee kam die Rahmen außerhalb des Containers zu plazieren.

Da diese Positionierung abhänging von der Größe des grafischen Rahmens ist, gehört sie nicht in die allgemeine Logik, sondern zum Rahmen an sich:

Wie man bereits bei den Allgemeinen Formatierungen sieht, verwendet ich direkte Kind-Selektoren für die Elemente. Da diese CSS Level 2 sind, und der Standard jahr erst einige Jährchen auf dem Buckel hat, werden diese natürlich noch nicht vom Internet Explorer unterstützt. *räusper*

Jetzt ist eigentlich nicht mehr viel zu tun. Im Grunde kann man dem content-DIV noch ein paar Formatierungen mitgeben die mit dem gewählten Rahmen zusammenarbeiten:

Das Ergebnis könnte dann so aussehen:

Hier habe ich 2 Boxen mit fester innerhalb zweier absolut positionierter Container mit definierter width plaziert. Die Container überlagern einander und verfügen über einen unterschiedlichen z-index.
Die Rahmen- und Hintergrundgrafiken sind PNGs mit Transparenz. (Wieder so ein IE Schwachpunkt)

Integrating forum into website

I would like to integrate the UNB forums into my current website design. With most products, one would simply have to edit a header file and a footer file to do this; I am having problems figuring out how this is done in UNB.

Looking at the _head.html and _foot.html files, I cannot find code that actually controls the appearance of the forums, just a lot of if-this and if-that statements. I'm having certain difficulty figuring out what goes where relative to how the board currently looks -- for example, what sets the width of the forums as displayed here (to what looks like 700px)?

Ask any questions you need to ask about my install and I can give you the necessary info.

Störende Linie, verschiedene Fragen und IE

So, hab ein sehr spezielles Design einer HP und bin seit Tagen dabei das Forum anzupassen.

Ein Prob hab ich und ich weiß nicht, wo ich den Code dafür finde:
Wenn ich in der Forenübersicht bin erscheint bei den Unterforen, die ja etwas nach rechts eingerückt sind, auf der linken Seite ein vertikaler Strich, der genauso lang ist, wie die nebenstehenden Unterforen. Wo ist diese Linie definiert, bzw. kann ich sie komplett wegbekommen?

Wo ist das Design für den Kopf eines Threads definiert, also dort, wo der Autor steht, wieviel Beiträge der hat, wo man den Textlink als Lesezeichen setzen kann, etc. Welcher Tag ändert dort die Farbe?

Und noch was spezielles: Mein Design rockt total in allen Browsern bis auf den IE. Woran liegt es, dass das hier anders definiert werden muss? An den PNGs? Funzt es auch mit GIFs? Oder gibts ne fixe Lösung den IE irgendwie passend zu machen?

Und noch was: Im IE versucht er im MODERN2 oben ein IMG zubauen und gibt einen Fehler aus. Im Firefox ist dort lediglich ein Schriftzug verlinkt. Warum?

Gibt es eine Liste wo die CSS-Tags beschrieben sind? Einige sind ja logisch, aber auf andere kann ich mir keinen Reim machen und da wäre es gut zu wissen, wo die verwendet werden.

Hallo,

ich habe vor einiger Zeit ein (Ersatz)forum installiert unter http://www.baskets-jena.de/forum/

Das Forum wurde längere Zeit nicht benutzt, daher auch die ältere Versionsnummer. Was ich nicht mehr weiß ist, wie ich dieses Design eingestellt habe oder besser gesagt, ob es in der aktuellen Version enthalten ist oder nicht. Es heißt in der Administration "Unclassified Newsboard Standard". Ich weiß noch, dass ich direkt im Source die Anzeige der Beiträge umprogrammiert habe, damit es so aufgeteilt ist, wie im Orginalforum. Ich würde jetzt gerne upgraden auf den neuesten Release, weiß aber eben nicht, ob ich dort auch dieses Design habe, weil im Design-Ordner es "nur" ein Verzeichnis "mordern" gibt.

Hallo Yves, ich benutze dein System, aber ich habe nicht gefunden,wo kanni ich die schwarze Farbe andern. Zum Beispiel geht es von "Register text" , ich habe im Dateiverzeichnis CSS suchen, leider nichts gefunden. Mein Page ist testcentrum.nforce.cz/forum/forum.php Die schwarze Farbe ist dann sehr schlecht zu sehen.... Danke und vielen Gluck in der Zukunft...

Well. I love this software.

But the first thing i noticed, was the many image-files used in the default theme.
I was thinking about a very simple theme, only based on black and white, and a minimal amount of image-files.

So my question is as follows: Does anybody own a clean CSS file, based on the UNB-software? I'm not very experienced in CSS, and i would really appreciate it, if somebody had a minimal CSS-file, containing only the necessary definitions.

Hello,

I'm trying to get some nice background transparance with IE6 on the forum, but there is just no way..
I tried the javascript approach with "nbCorrectPNGforIE", but where and how is "alphaPNGfiles " to be defined ?

I manipulated the css in every possible way, but it just won't work. Even a single simple div on top of it remains transparent.

Is there a lock, or is the css parsed in a way that alphaimageloader just won't work ?

Been on that whole day, very frustrating..
